INSTALLATION GUIDE

AIR TANK

Please note the following when installing our zero air loss condensate drain valve in the tank.

  • Connect the balance line for reliable condensate inflow to the upper inlet of the condensate drain trap by connecting it from the gauge.
  • Our zero-air loss condensate drain valve is a diaphragm type, so when sharp impurities are discharged with pressure, diaphragm is stressed constantly and its life is shortened. In order to prevent this, install our optional strainer which allow you do not need to disassemble and clean the trap due to foreign substances on the front of the trap. Diaphragm is a replaceable consumable and can be purchased separately.

Tip for strainer

When pipes such as tanks are aged, the piping scale and contaminants are concentrated in the condensate, which blocks the INLET piping or prevents the trap from working properly. This can cause the diaphragm to break under stress or scale on the diaphragm, which can cause continued air release. In such places, it is necessary to install a pre-filter. Additionally, when connected together with the exit from the Acetrap, the exit from the trap is not dirty and the ball valve of the pre-filter is opened to allow for the safe cleaning of the contaminated particles by operator. As the specially designed pre-filter supplied optionally by the our company is fitted with a shut-off valve to the strainer for easy cleaning, it is necessary to remove any foreign substances in the mesh from the strainer.

When installing on aged tanks all contaminants are concentrated in the condensate. This hinders smooth inflow of condensate or prevents the condensate drain from working properly. This also can cause the diaphragm to be broken under constant hammering stress. Therefore it is necessary to install an optional strainer. Additionally when connected together with the outlet from the zero air loss condensate drain you can do safe cleaning of the contaminated particles by opening and closing the ball valve of strainer.

Tip for balance line

If the inlet line of the condensate enter horizontally using elbow from the point of condensation (e.g. air receiver tank), the condensate discharge is not smooth. If the equivalent pressure connection(air circulation line) is not installed, condensate collects in the tank continuously, as shown in Figure 1 below, and will not enter the trap even though the water level rises. This is due to the air pocket phenomenon within the trap. If air (A) in the trap does not flow to any place, the condensate in the tank is full to the rear end but the trap will not work.

However, when the equivalent pressure is connected from the top inlet of the trap with the high pressure hose or the copper tube as shown in Figure 2, a safety condensate discharge would be secured.

Condensate accumulates in the tank and flows into the condensate drain. If air can not flow anywhere in the trap, the condensate will not flow into the condensate drain due to the air pocket. At this time, the balance line should be connected by connecting the line above the point where condensation occurs or gauge, so that the air pocket circulate to tank and the condensed water can flow freely.

Installation for Dryer and After-cooler

When installing at the after-cooler and dryer it may be necessary to install the equivalent tube but this can be difficult due to the construction of the on-site. In this case, you need to install a [Air Vent(speed controller)] to open the air very thoroughly to remove the air pocket to make the trap work. However, the air opening is very mild, but you must check the air when checking in the field. If the [Air Vent] is blocked, the trap will not work. These installations are equally applicable when the eqivalent pressures(balance tube) in the reservoir are severe. (Air Vent sold separately)

Tip for Air Vent

If the inlet of A is subjected to a pressure of 7 bar, continuous fine air release at the top of the trap causes differential pressure inside the condensate drain, and the condensate to be drawn into the condensate drain. This causes smooth inflow of condensate into the container of Acetrap, and causes smooth condensate drain. It is recommended to use an INLET from the bottom when installing an air vent.

Filters and field lines

Make sure that the installation height is secured when installing on filters and field pipelines. If the height is enough, the condensate enters by gravity and can be piped directly to the top inlet of the condensate drain without additional balance lines.

Excessive condensate flow from the up stream may also cause air pocket inside the condensate drain. In particular, check the condensate drain of the refrigerant dryer to generate a large amount of condensate. And if the capacity of the filter is large and the pipe is getting old, please install the optional strainer.

Filters and field lines

【Example of wrong installation at filter】

Connecting two different pressure vessels with one condensate drain will not result in normal condensate drainage.
Each condensate drain must be installed in each vessel in which the condensate collects. If not, the condensate is bypassed and passed to the end.
Also, if you install a condensate drain, the trap will not work if installed vertically. Be sure to install it horizontally.

Tip for site pipe lines

The pipeline should have an inclination of 5° or more until it is piped from the field line.
Also, drip legs are installed at a certain distance in the main pipe, and the condensed water due to the temperature difference is quickly discharged to the outside.
If you want to use air in the main pipe, use the elbow as shown in the figure.

Tip for air plug

On-site air piping is always subject to condensation due to temperature differences. For safety reasons, it is necessary to use the air distributor provided by our company at the end of the air.

HEATER

When Acetrap is installed in the icing area, the condensate inside will freeze and the trap will be damaged. In these places, install an optional heater for safe condensate discharge. In particular, if the inlet pipe is frozen, wrap the inlet pipe with a separate heat tracing or insulation to prevent freezing.
It is made of brass material with nickel coated, therefore it has a good durability and an anti- corrosion, and it has the automatic temperature control unit in it therefore it can maintain a constant temperature. It is directly connected to lower input line of Acetrap series using a stud bolt therefore its installation work is convenient. It is applicable to all models of Acetrap series, and also it is very easily applicable to already installed traps.
